What playing it feels like

  • A hand of cards you hold close, played fast against a table that is watching your count.
  • Loud: people talk, act, sing or shout, and the app keeps the secrets and the score.
  • Plays well on a video call — the talking happens on camera and the app does the rest.
  • Nothing to explain. Start it and go.

Good for

  • Groups of 3 to 18
  • Big groups, where most games run out of seats
  • A video call, with everyone on their own screen

Maybe skip when

  • You are somewhere that needs to stay quiet

Don’t Bust is a push-your-luck card game for as many as eighteen people, and it takes a minute to learn. On your turn you flip a card into your line or stay and bank what you have. Flip a number you already hold and you bust: the round scores you nothing.

The deck is lopsided on purpose — there is one 1, two 2s, and twelve 12s — so a high card is likely to come again, and the bust risk climbs with every flip. The board shows you the real odds from the cards still unseen. Lucky charms take a bust for you, a lock lets you stop a rival in their tracks, and seven different numbers in one line ends the round for everybody with a bonus.

It is the game for a big table: everyone is watching everyone else’s line, the turns are seconds long, and the loudest moment is someone flipping again when they should not have. PartyDen deals from a shuffled pile nobody can see, scores every line and plays to the host’s target.

How to play Don't Bust

  1. 1Create a room and share the code. Don’t Bust is for 3 to 18 players.
  2. 2On your turn, flip a card into your line or stay and bank it. Your first card of each round is always a flip.
  3. 3Flip a number already in your line and you bust: you score nothing this round. A lucky charm in your line takes one bust for you.
  4. 4Bonus cards add points, ×2 doubles your numbers, and a lock makes you pick a player who must stop now and bank what they have.
  5. 5Seven different numbers in your line ends the round for everyone, with 15 bonus points for you.
  6. 6A banked line scores its numbers plus bonuses. The first past the target (100, 200 or 300) at the end of a round wins.

Don't Bust FAQ

How many people can play Don’t Bust?

Three to eighteen. Every card is face up and turns are short, so it holds a big group better than most card games.

What makes you bust?

Flipping a number you already have in your line this round. Bonus cards, ×2, charms and locks never bust you.

What is the bust risk on the board?

The chance your next flip is a number you already hold, worked out from the cards nobody has seen yet. It is the same sum a careful player would do by counting — the app just does it for you.

Is Don’t Bust like Flip 7?

It is the same kind of game — flip or stay, and duplicates bust you — with its own cards, its own specials and its own name. If your group likes push-your-luck games, it will feel familiar in one round.

What does the lock card do?

Whoever flips it picks someone still in the round — themselves included — who stops at once and banks what their line is worth. Use it to stop the leader before they get greedy, or to bank your own good line.
