What playing it feels like
- A familiar classic, the kind that comes out when the family is together.
- Mostly quiet: the action happens on each player’s own screen.
- Plays well on a video call — the talking happens on camera and the app does the rest.
- One round and everyone has it.
Good for
- Exactly 3 people
- A proper evening rather than a filler
- A video call, with everyone on their own screen
Maybe skip when
- More than 3 of you want to play at once
- You only have ten minutes
Teen Do Paanch — 3-2-5, or 2-3-5 depending on who taught you — is the card game made for exactly three people, which is rarer than it should be. Thirty cards, ten tricks, and three targets that add up to ten: the player after the dealer must take five, the next player three, the dealer two.
The player who needs five names trump after seeing only their first five cards, which is a gamble everyone watches them make. Then the twist that gives the game its bite: whoever took more tricks than they needed gets to pull a card, unseen, from whoever fell short, at the start of the next deal — and give back any card they like. A good deal makes your next hand stronger and your rival’s weaker.
PartyDen deals the five, holds the rest until trump is named, runs every pull so only the two people in it see the cards, and keeps the score: each deal you score your tricks minus your target. The deal rotates, so everyone takes each target in turn.
How to play Teen Do Paanch
- 1Create a room and share the code. Teen Do Paanch is played by exactly three players.
- 2The pack is 30 cards: A, K, Q, J, 10, 9 and 8 of every suit, plus the 7 of spades and the 7 of hearts. Aces are high.
- 3The player after the dealer must take 5 tricks, the next 3, the dealer 2. The five-trick player sees five cards and names trump; then everyone gets five more.
- 4The five-trick player leads. Follow suit if you can, otherwise play anything. The highest trump wins, otherwise the highest card of the suit led.
- 5Each trick over your target lets you pull a card from a player who fell short, at the start of the next deal — then give back any card but that one.
- 6Each deal you score your tricks minus your target. After the host’s number of deals, the highest total wins.
Teen Do Paanch FAQ
How many players does Teen Do Paanch need?
Exactly three. The targets — five, three and two tricks — add up to the ten tricks in a deal, which only works with three hands of ten.
Which cards are in a 3-2-5 deck?
Thirty: ace down to eight in all four suits, plus the seven of spades and the seven of hearts. The app builds it for you.
How does the card pull work?
If you took more tricks than your target, you pull one card at random from a player who took fewer than theirs, for each extra trick, at the start of the next deal. You then hand back any card except the one you pulled. Only the two of you see the cards.
Who names trump?
The player who must take five tricks — the one after the dealer — names it after seeing their first five cards. The rest are dealt only once they have chosen.
How is Teen Do Paanch scored?
Casual tables keep no score, so the app uses a simple one: each deal you score your tricks minus your target, so making exactly your number is 0, two over is +2, one short is −1. After the host’s number of deals the highest total wins.
Is 3-2-5 the same as 2-3-5?
Yes — the numbers are the three targets, and families say them in different orders. Some also call it Teen Do Panch or 5-3-2.
